First half of Maria's 2006 schedule released

Maria will start next season on the 2nd of January at the 2006 Mondial Australian Women’s Hardcourts which is a new tournament at the Gold Coast in Australia, then Maria will have 1 week off to prepare for her 1st Grand Slam of the year at the Australian Open beginning on January 16th. Right after the Australian Open Maria will head to Tokyo to defend her title which she won against Lindsay Davenport this year.

On the 20th of February Maria will another new tournament at Dubai and won't be defending her title at Doha. Maria will then play her usual schedule of Indian Wells and Miami which begin on March 6th and 20th respectively. After quite a long break Maria will be playing her first and only clay court event at Rome on May 15th. On the 29th of May she'll be heading to Paris to play the second Grand Slam of the year, Roland Garros.
