WTA Tour Championships Groups announced

The groups have been decided for the WTA Championships in Los Angeles and Maria is in the Green Group with world #1 Lindsay Davenport of the United States, Patty Schnyder of Switzerland and Nadia Petrova of Russia.

Maria will play her first match against Schnyder on Tuesday - not before 19.30 pacific time. The 2 have never met indoors before and the series is tied 1-1, Maria won last year in Birmingham on grass and this year Schnyder won on clay in Rome, both matches were 3 sets.

Maria leads the series 3-0 with Petrova and 2-1 with Davenport.
