The draw for the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, Japan has been released and Maria is the top seed there and receives a bye in the first round.
In the 2nd round Maria will also face a qualifier. The Toray Pan Pacific Open is a tier 1 event played on a very fast indoor court.
Maria is the defending champion after she won last year from Lindsay Davenport of the United States (6-1 3-6 7-6(5))
