In the second round Maria will play Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia. Hantuchova defeaded Vera Douchevina of Russia in 2 sets (1-6, 4-6).
Maria has played Hantuchova twice before and the series is tied 1-1, Maria won the last meeting at Wimbledon this year.
