Most likely candidate to win Wimbledon?

Posted by: Marco

World number one Amelie Mauresmo laid to rest some Wimbledon demons as she reached her first final with a brave 6-3 3-6 6-2 win over Maria Sharapova.

Mauresmo led by a set and a break in the 2004 and 2005 semi-finals and history looked set to repeat itself.

The top seed lost the second set despite having points for a 4-1 lead.

But Mauresmo established a 4-0 advantage in a gripping decider and withstood Sharapova's increasingly ferocious efforts to recover.

It was not Amalie Mauresmo, who won the semifinals at todays Wimbledon. Hard to say I am sorry - but it was Maria Sharapova and her father, Yuri Sharapov, daughter and father there both lost the big game. I´ve never seen Maria and her father so weak before. And I really wonder why? Somethings trouble with the russian train....this year

hold on, clearing my voice from yelling so much! ok, once again, i shall have to be the voice of reason. i feel bad that you lost but not as bad when you lost at Roland Garros. you couldnt hold your serves and that is what cost you! too many mistakes!:'( but again with the stats cause i love stats. you have gotten to the quarters or better 28 out of the last 29 tourneys and to the semis 7 out of the last 8 tourneys. and holding the trophy at the end of some of them. that is extremely consistant. and you are ONLY 19! very good for so young. there are so many players who win one and then you never hear from them again. but you will keep trying and thats what i like about ya. never give up and improve. you can only get better. i am trying to be encouraging unlike some people on here. i am with you rain or shine. thats what a good fan does. i am pulling for you always! Best
Wishes in your next tournament.

Sorry to hear about that male streaker who danced within 30 feet of you during your quarterfinal. That explains your loss against Amelie. This was likely the scheme of either Rafael Nadal, who likes to show off his biceps, or the shy Roger Federer. Okay? So if they play each other in the finals, the idea would be to hire some young, exotic female dancers wearing polka dot bikini's just like you wore in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. Okay? Then send the winner of the match your name and telephone number along with the tab.

any of the seasoned, experienced or retired pro's, let alone the color commentators pretty much think that sharapova has a long and great tennis career ahead of her. and i agree. sharapova, and the other russian women tennis players will have plenty of other chances and not just wimbledon. i watched the match and i wasn't suprised at the outcome. sharapova was up against a player who had just overcome a lot of her own professional hang-ups, problems, etc and sharapova should make a note of it, of what to do, what to avoid, etc. on the tennis side, with an agressive player like maursesmo there's really no time for sulking, moping or long faces out there. sharapova has to stay focused and stay aggressive and stay powerful, dictate play at all times and keep mauresmo constantly on the defensive by constantly attacking mauresmo's forehands and returns. keep the pressure on mauresmo. and sharapova was hitting a lot of stuff outside the court, she needs to keep a lid on that, unforced errors, double faults, etc, particularly with these better players.

I saw todays match and Maria really play hard, but ta the experience won once again. There are many mistakes she still has and has to work on them. Hopefully, she would be # 1.

Masha, you have to realize that you aren't got full maturity as a player, you still are a hitter, a true one, so, you still must keep your raquet moving to hit the ball otherwise

Maria has always been my idol. I've been playing tennis for 4 years now, and this is my first year i've ever been competitive. I look up to Maria a great deal, losing to Amelie or not. Amelie is 1st in the world for a reason, and Maria Sharapova is 4th for a reason. Don't worry about it though Maria, you'll be back on top one day, i'm sure of it. And mabye in a coupe more years if I stay competitve in tennis, and my skill increases i'll see you at Wimbledon, my one tournament I want to be.Otherwise, goodluck in the us open and in rogers cup, ill see you a the rogers cup, because i'm going. Just to see you. So goodluck, and good job. I love you idol, thanks for being who you are.

look at all of you. She's 18 Remember. At the ripe young age of nine, she moved to the United States to study tennis at Nick Bollettieri’s Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida. She came with her father, and had to leave her mother behind in Russia for two years do work out finances and many issues with receiving visas.
I like her but you people are in love with her. I dont want to be mean but why dont we go play tennis, and go to tennis tounaments and go to pro mathes. In stead everyone is commenting on her and what she should do, and what she should not do shes only 18 ok 18.
