Top-seeded Russian Maria Sharapova swept into the quarter-finals of the 600,000-dollar WTA US Open tuneup with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Marion Bartoli of France.
Sharapova booked a re-match with compatriot Dinara Safina, the fifth seed, who shocked Sharapova in the fourth round of the French Open in June.
Safina advanced with a 6-2, 7-6 (7/2) victory over American Laura Granville.
"I'm not going to look back," said Sharapova, who has lost her last two meetings with Safina after winning their first two. "Tomorrow's going to be a new match. I've lost to her two times, they were both really tough matches. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully a new result."
This time, Sharapova has momentum on her side. The 19-year-old took a month off after falling in the Wimbledon semi-finals, and returned last week to lift the title in San Diego.
Her victory over the overmatched Bartoli was her seventh straight match without dropping a set.
"I am playing well," Sharapova said. "It's up to me to see how long I can keep going mentally and physically. I've played seven matches I haven't done that in a while."
