Second seed Maria Sharapova twice came from match point down to beat Patty Schnyder in a gruelling three-set win in the fourth round of the French Open.
Swiss player Schynder served for the match three times but each time the Russian, struggling with a shoulder injury, battled back.
The 20-year-old Sharapova finally clinched a 3-6 6-4 9-7 victory after a two-and-a-half-hour marathon.
Sharapova now faces fellow Russian Anna Chakvetadze for a semi-final place. Maria has played Chakvetadze 3 time before and leads the series 3-0. In 2005 Maria defeated Chakvetadze at Roland Garros 6-1 6-4.
