According to RIA Novosti, Maria Sharapova has been named the second most searched for sporting name on Yahoo's Internet search engine in 2007, the Russian tennis player's Web site said on December 4.
Sharapova, the 2004 Wimbledon and Madrid WTA champion, and the world's highest paid female athlete last year, topped the list of athletes who were most often mentioned in Yahoo's search engine.
According to Yahoo, the most popular ten searches are:
1. NASCAR
2. Maria Sharapova
3. Boston Red Sox (baseball league team)
4. David Beckham
5. Serena Williams
6. Chicago Bears
7. Cristiano Ronaldo
8. Super Bowl
9. Ronaldinho
10. Ashley Force (a car drag racer).
