Mariais out of Roland Garros after she lost7-6 6-72-6 to #13 seed Dinara Safina of Russia in the 4th round in 2 hours and 52 minutes.

The 1st set took 68 minutes as both players didn't give much away. There were no breaks in the first 6 games and then in the 7th game Maria broke Safina's serve when she hit a winner after a long rally. Safina didn't give Maria much time to get comfortable as she broke Maria back in the next game. The next 4 games were hold of serve and a tie-break would decide this set. The tie-break was close and Safina had 2 set-points but Maria managed to take it 8-6 when Safina hit a shotjust out.

There was a rain delay at 0-1 15-30 and when the players came back, Maria went down 2-0 but came back to level the set 2-2 when she hit a powerful forehand return winner. Maria's level started to get better and better as she managed to break Safina to lead 4-2 when she hit a backhand winner andMaria then held her serve to lead 5-2. Safina came back to take the next 3 games to level the set 5-5, the next 2 games were holds of serve to force another tie-break. Maria took a 5-2 lead in the tie-break but lost 5 straight points as Safina won it when Maria hits a backhand out.

Maria broke in the 1st game of the final set when Safina hit a volley long. The set was level at 2-2 when Safina took 4 straight games to take the set and the match.

i wanna be honest about this, please Maria, Be less noisy when you play, it is disturbing for your opponent as well as for the fans, i know how hard it is to play tennis and how tough it is when you're on the court fighting... but consider this advice.. many can't watch the television with volume on when you play... thank you and wish you best luck for future games.... may the best win always

Maria, I know this was heart-breaking but don't worry, you'll be okay and just keep fighhting out there. Also, please be as LOUD as you want to be. It's an aboslute JOKE to hear people complain about your effort noise. Serena grunts, Monica Seles was loud but it seems okay for thos players, why not you? Why? Because so many people are jealous of you and who cares what your opponents do and don't like. They want to beat you and the ignorant, caddie announcers like Mary Carillo, Pam Shriver, etc enjoy watching you lsoe. Please don't be nice to them. Always Show No MERCY to
your opponents and detractors. When you beath the hell out of Henin you did not hear a word from Carillo in the booth, today she acted as if was in pure heaven watching you lose. When you win, people try and tear you down anyway but when Ivanavich beats a nobody they act as if the is the greatest thing since sliced bread. There are many double standards that are levyed against you. Just be strong and ignore them.

Thank you Maria for your great effort and realize, you've done so much at the young age of 21 then those losers have ever accomplished. Also, you have improved on clay so keep that in your heart. Remember, your REAL fans love you win or lose.

Win or lose Masha, you're the best and you're the ONLY reason to watch woman's tennis. Keep SCREAMING your heart out Masha and never change. The ignorant people in France booed you last year when you did not play Mother Theresa to Schnyder and quite frankly they just want to see you lose. To hell with France and their ignorant fans.

Keep fighting Masha, and don't worry..a gold medal is in your future..France has NOTHING tennis wise to look forward to.

I think Maria is friendly and even very much. In difficult moments she can be serious but she can be funny also in some moments. Maria is friendly, kind, natural and just beautiful girl. Masha take this in your stride, maybe it's a hint to train harder and there is always purpose to reach more than you have. Good luck for the rest of the season!!! I am disappointed.! I couldn't sleep last nyT becoZ of the match between masha-safiNa. sHe had greaT chancEs but she losT it.

all of us fans of maria do understand that she's not a good clay-court player. but what i particularly don't like is the fact that victory is already a breath away but she allowed her opponent to steal it away from her. worse, she's not even conscious about its effects in her #1 rank! why can't she be like those other tennis legends (like justine or roger) who can claim and sit in the #1 rank for as long as they're playing? of course to do this you have to work hard, but clearly her efforts are not enough. at times i also do think she has that attitude problem like "yeah, i'll play, but if i don't want to, nobody can stop me not even my fan's concern". maria, if you're reading this, i hope you'll understand and take time to know your fan's reactions and concerns. redeem yourself by winning the wimbledon! make it up to your fans who are rooting for you and supports you despite several disappointments

What's up Maria I was really puzzled on how you could have lost in the fourth round of roland garros because you were leading 5-2 in the secound set and needed on more point to win. I think you were nervous or anxious to win you lost a little bit of your confindence and started making errors that I normally see you did;nt do when I watch on tv. I know you are disappointed because you really worked hard and came very close the quartrt finals but I believe when the french open starts again in 2009 you will win. but for now go out their and show and the world and your fans that you can redeem yourself the win wimbledon Good luck.
